My old '93 Xantia 1.9 TD gave me about 40mpg and was fairly affordable to run, have just had a nose about and discovered the MR2 Mk3 returns about 38mpg. I am wondering if I could have fun as well as being a bit frugal :S

I am single with no family and fancy a lil knockabout to go to work in but need to be realistic on mpg as my old GTV nommed all my spare cash for fuel.

Pull the trigger and be a little happier chap rest of your life... Mr2 is one of my favorite car of all time. Unlucky for me, i need 2+2 seater, but i know that mk3 are cheap to run and blast to drive cars. Def better choice than tdi golf.. smile.

Clio 1(7/8)2 should get you mid 30s, too, and might be an option with a smidgin more practicality to boot?

If he doesn't need that extra boot space, is MR2 way to go. It is a light weight, mid-engine RWD sports car =perfect car for a single guy/petrolhead.
