Following on from previous post I have had my rockers and plenum poweder coated and was in the process of replacing them. The rockers have gone back on with a large amount of swearing and cussing.

The problem I have is the throttle assembly that attaches to the plenum, and more specifically the sring on the butterfly bar / rod. which ever way I try it it has no tension.

I have been on RV8 guide and tried to follow the pics but , does the hole indicated by the red arrow do anything?, The yellow arrow shows the straight end of the spring against the bar, is this right? if so the stubby end of the spring with a right angle ( grey arrow ) is just floating around.

this is the assembly upside down, any one post a pic of their assembly, or see anything obvious. thanks.

thought I had done well as a novice removing plenum and rockers and replacing them along with fuel hoses, but this bloody spring has defeated me ! I have treid the spring every way ... help !

Hi , you are right in the first pic i think but you need to rotate the spring 360 degrees to gain the spring tension. Hope this helps and the powder coat looks nice and good colour too

Not sure if these will show anything useful, but worth posting just in case.

Hi All,

Having a similar issue to this. The spring is currently not tight against the spindle (eg. it can spin freely) - does any one have any pictures? Mine seems to have lost all it's tension so i'm wondering if it's worth replacing/possible to replace it?

Cheers,
Phill

As above, when the spring is fitted correctly it will have a lot of pre-load in it...enough to slice your finger when you release it if you're not careful.

The hole queried is not used, the short end of the spring just hooks over the bracket.

Thanks for the picture - how do you tension the spring? Is it as simple as manually winding it around until you get to the right tension?

Hi to tension the spring, if you look at the photo, the spring needs 1 end to be rotated, If you use that pic then the short end needs to 'over the top' and round and relocated where its sitting. It is easier to do than to explain, if you rotate it 360 degrees and its still wrong try it the other way smile

It drove me mad for hours, then 10 minutes on here and all sorted.
