Next week, I am starting a new job and will mean that Mrs Seeker & I will be able to share driving. The drive is 50 miles a day (round trip) and is mostly dual carriageway / a-road. Mrs Seeker currently has a MB C220CDI Coupe and I've got a BMW e46 320CD - but as mine's a manual, she won't drive it and so we're not sharing the mileage as much as I'd like.

So not vital to change now but I've started looking an alternative we can both drive.

Criteria is:

Auto
Must return 40 mpg on a run
Comfortable seats (sports / supportive)
Budget - £15k or £7k deposit and £300 per month.
Prefer a GT / Coupé but comfort is most important.

Obvious thoughts are

Audi A5 2.0 / 3.0 TDI
BMW 635D
Jaguar XF (OK, not a coupé but has coupé like lines)

Other idea (not a GT at all) is a Range Rover Evoque.

Anything else to consider? (Not an MB CLK, the seats in the 2 I had aggravate a back condition)

Grateful for your thoughts.

I thought about either of those but the deposit I can put down would put them out of monthly budget.

Why won't she drive a manual?

She has a problem with her left foot that means it hurts her to use the clutch pedal.

Citroen DS4 or 5? Oddball coupe-ish (if you squint) looks, ride quality and big, comfy seats, diesel engines and autoboxes. Sorted smile

I test drove a GT 140TDI and was very impressed with it. I might go and have a look at a new one.

I'd forgotten about the DS5. I must admit, they do look good.

I like em. Not a beauty but not offensive either.

Lovely interiors.

Feck me I chuckled at that one! Anyhoo, you'll struggle to get 40mpg out of a 635d. It's theoretically possible of course but you try it with nigh on 300bhp and biblical torque under your right foot. I can't!

I'm going to say peugeot 508 gt hdi in estate or saloon form, I've just bought a allure version and it is great for mile munching, do wished I had waited for a gt version to come in budget though.
