Not wanting to sound like a total fool, but they reckon X Plane is a realistic simulation, and you can chuck a plane around like that no problem.
I've often wondered, really??? Just how much stress and sharp direction change can a real plane handle? Maybe they can but no one wants to scare the living sh*t out of the passengers? Ha.
Anyways, to me that looks like an RC model. But all I know about aviation I learnt from 5 minutes playing X Plane, so... You know.

About 20-odd years ago I remember seeing a home video clip on the News of an early fly-by-wire Airbus (possibly A320), which had gone similarly doolally, I think over France. I can't seem to find the clip on-line.
If its the same one I'm thinking of it was a BA 320 and the crew were trying to get it out of the hold. Lets just say those guys came bottom of their conversion class.I was in Russia when this happened. From what I understand the Tupolev in the video had been in storage for almost a decade and they basically fired it up and took it for a high speed run down the runway. I don't think it was ever supposed to get airborne. The fact it even flew was a miracle.

What was the cause of the erratic flying on that occasion?
I think it was caused by unfamiliarity with the aircraft and the pilots not understanding the way the aircraft was controlled by it's various computers. What was the cause of the erratic flying on that occasion?
They were trying to do one thing whilst the computer wanted the plane to do something else, this caused the aircraft to lose control. Had they taken their hands off the controls, the aircraft would have righted itself. This was similar to what happened with an Aeroflot A310 in the mid nineties. If the pilots had let the computers sort out the issue (as they were designed to) it more than likely would not have crashed.

Well, that and the fact that the TV morons call the damned Crash Recorder 'The Black Box'!!! Its ORANGE, and no one in aviation calls it the Black Box!!! Aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgh!!!And breathe............
