Less than 60! 20-60thou is the acceptable range, I'd target 30-38 thou with adjustables, which just happens to be about 1 turn wink

Make pushrod slack, to allow follower spring to get cup up as high as possible, screw pushrod out until everything just touches without pressing down the follower cup (sounds easy doesn't it) then add the extra turn to put preload on the follower.

Same really as trying to use the hook to measure the distance between the circlip & cup, just easier knowing the UNF thread will be 24/28 TPI (~=30 / 38 tough target).

I did mine at 30-40 thou a few weeks ago.

Engine runs nice and quiet and you know you haven't compromised by shimming an average.

Exactly this.

Did mine at 40 thou. Shimming is a total compromise. Adjustable pushrods are the way forward!

What variation did you guy's find over your valve tips?.. TVR heads don't appear to be the best for being consistant rolleyes
