Much noticable difference with the Pipercross over Standard Item ?, 2.0 MK3 NC . Guessing just more noise

Performance air filters in general don't really do alot in the way of performance there more for aesthetics and like you said a better noise. You might feel slightly better throttle response but it will be VERY slight at most.

Your best bet is to go for a up rated panel filter from pipercross witch fits in to the standered air box. You will probly feel abit more in the way of performance due to it working better with the standed ECU and map and they do sound rarther good but still the performance enhancements will be slight.
