Dont know if this has been done to death already but a quick search didnt really bring up much

Can you/is there/how to get a 200bhp+ off the shelf (no super modding, 25 turbos etc....) car for under £1000?

This is probably easy for some of you but having never owned anything over about 150bhp myself i'm struggling to think.....

there must be some BMW? MR2? turbo'd something kicking out 200bhp (originally) that can now be nabbed in the shed range?

post linky if you know

Or if this has been done a gazillion times before then link to original post as i'm interested whatever

Your budget is too low, think 1500 for something decent

Got my 328 for £550 and a m50 manifold off ebay for £50 (yet to fit it), but should make over 200bhp for little over £600, not quite 'off the shelf', but certainly oem+

do you mean sports(ish) car?

if you can include barges in this then its too easy.. any 12+ year old full size jag/beemer/merc/lexus etc will have well over 200bhp

I'm usually a jag man, but I'll step outside my comfort zone and nominate this tidy looking E39: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...

As above links, this is a good advert for why PH classifieds are better than Auto Trader, just search with bhp above 200 and price below £1k, simples.

Ok lets say has to have at least MOT

Must say im liking the sound of the e36 with the mod, any links?....

And lets try to keep away from wafty barges

I would personally love a Jag or legend etc right now.... to cruise around in but i'm thinking (to make it a little harder!) something sportier, with a bit more aggressive power rather than v8 waft....
