Hi Guys,

A bit of an odd one, wondering if anything can advise...

The problem occurs when she has been on the accumate charger and is fully charged after the weeks hibernation in the garage, when i go to start it the starter spins and crunches ( a second or so) before it catches and starts the car.

However once the car is warm and been out for a run, when i restart it i have no sutch noises and it fires first time, its as though its getting to much juice to the starter when the battery is fully charged!??

Anyone have any ideas ????

Thanks in advance.

It's only tucked away during the week, comes out most weekends.

Had a refurb done on the starter a few years ago, just seams strange that it only does it when battery is fully charged and the car is cold frown

bud ive had some funny issues with my starter over the last couple of weeks, not quite the same as yours, but it is a pain.Have not had time to investigate yet but think a new starter is in order, will put in a new big fuse and holder while im there and a new lead from battery to starter, that should cure my problem......but you never know winkps my starter clicks...maybee four or five times then fires into life..but im sure one day it wont

As has been said - it might be time for a new starter. Mine used to do just as you describe, when cold crunched/grind noise before spinning into life, when hot was fine. It was this was for three weeks before one day pressing the starter and the usual crunch/grinding resulted in nothing at all. Mine was a daily though (that lived outside) so maybe my three weeks will be 3 months or more for yours but I would be thinking about a new starter.
