I now have the car fitted with vintage plate ZV26447 because it's over 30 years old, and take it to the odd vintage show, I rarely drive it on the road in case it breaks down! Because I'm a mechanic and hate fixing my own cars

Mmmm..I like the black number plate look..I drive mine everyday as long as the sun is shining..Even when its freezing out..When i first got her she used to break down all the time..The RAC would blank my number and i'd be left doing a basil fawlty by the side of the road!..But now she purrs like a kitten and always does as she is told..I gave her a heart transplant a little while ago as i was recorded at last years wedge fest with..119db but only 107bhp..Embarrassing to say the least but now she feels like a proper goer..and to redeem myself im fitting a sprintex supercharger kit this month which should give me 240bhp and 300lbs/ft of torque..I will also be re-naming her from delilah to the brown trouser machine...eek

Thanks for the welcome, can someone please tell me what discs are fitted to the rear of my car, I think they are jag but not sure which model, save me standing at the motor factors counter with the disc in my hand!
I have a wobble in the rear right that would throw you out of the car.

Thanks, but it is definitely the brake disc, the car has only 38.000 miles on the clock spent most of its life parked up somewhere over in the UK, I put in a new brake master cylinder and new brake caliper seals and pads all round, the rear disc is so bad I can see it clearly up on the lift when I spin the wheel

Hi Mate...I believe they are XJ6..They are vented but plain surfaced..There are shims between the half shafts and brake disc's and these are the adjustment for the rear wheel alignment so care must be taken when removing them making sure you count how many on each side and what side they came off..Check the pads as well even if they were new as they could of worn to the shape of the disc so might need replacing as well..Cheers...Ziga

The ones on the FHC are vented and so are mine...Perhaps its best to check and see what you have on there now as anything is possible...Ziga

Hi

They were originaly solid when fitted by the factory.

But a upgrade done by many people.

What benfit you will get on the rears on a road car I don't know!

Would have thought they were already 'over-braked' at the back if anything...but benefit from extra cooling to them for spirited driving/trackdays.

Rear discs will be from Jag XJ6/12 from that era.

Hi I have solid discs and had to replace a warped one last year. Can't find my invoice for it at the moment but think these are the ones I used. http://www.apbrakediscs.co.uk/rear-brembo-brake-di... Think that they are the same if from any of the late 60s through to 80s jags with inboard brake IRS. ( Xj6 , E type , xjs)
