Deciphering which Aston from head only picture?

A friend of a friend has just posted some pictures of his Aston, with a personal plate on Facebook.

My friend is wondering which one it is. It's certainly newer , v8 vantage/ DB9, but they look very similar to my eye from this angle.

Are there any distinguishing features to look for?

I'm not comfortable with this outrageous notion that modern Astons all look the same

DBS has a pair of air intakes either side of the number plate. The vantage DB9 look the same from the front I think.

You will be able to tell by the cross section holding the plate - DB9 is noticeably larger with little plate overhang. I take your point on the lights though, now that the new DB9 has encompassed the Virage front lights

the number of slats on the grill should give it away...
plus the bottom half shape of the headlights....
plus the front bumper is different...

my dad said he liked my new aston martin db vantage when i bought it round a few years back....
he's still none the wiser "still got your V8 Vanquish Steve..."

It's quite simple...... DB9 will have a badge like this on the grill

maybe the feet in the corner of the picture will give it away...

V8V has LED indicators/sidelights running along the inside length of the headlights.
DB9 (up until Virage/latest shape) has "old style" indicators on the bottom inner corner of the headlights.

Easy. DB9 has either either 5 or 7 horizontal bars on the grille depending on year. Vantage has either 6 or 8.

Looks like a virage or new DB9 to me, prepared to be corrected though.

Definitely new DB9 or Virage (basically same), rear arches nice n wide.
