maserati Granturismo S vs V8 vantage

Hi Guys

Was just going through old car pics and just thought I should post some for you guys to compare. Only sold my Maserati 6 months ago. Had a Golf GTI for 6 months,
got mega-bored, then bought the vantage.

For what its worth, I think both cars are stunning. Perhaps the Maserati was a tad better looking at the right angle, whereas the vantage is good looking
from all angles.

Both great cars.....prefer the V8V, just.....Maser looks like one of its crumple zones has been activated at the front.

I would be happy to have either

As Jockman said both great cars, I have a V8 Vantage and my son has the same Mazza! I'd say the Mazza is more an Italian version of DB9 - the grand tourer but that fabulous sound track especially with the sport button pressed. Again would be happy with a Mazza if I didn't already have the Vantage.

Nice cars but I always think the newer Massers are too big and bulbeous preferred the smaller previous 4200

Agree.
See the Maserati more as a DB9 alternative (definitively longer and with 2 rear seat)

Interesting, I've owned the "S" in the same colour and also a V8. You have good taste! With the S I always felt that I should be loving the car but never really could, until one day (on a track) I got it up to 165mph. It then dawned on me that this is where the car was happiest and anything sub 100 just made it feel a bit cumbersome and a bit awkward. It wasn't until I saw an identical car in London once that I realized that I had bought the car for everybody else's enjoyment. Great to look at from the outside, but never made me feel special from the inside.

The V8 always made me smile at any speed and on any type of road and driving it always felt like an event. The telling point is that I done 2800 miles in two years in the Mazza and done 2000 miles in 5 months in the Vantage. Says it all really.

Now the V12 Vantage................

No advantage there I'm afraid. I was persuaded not to buy a DB9 for that very reason and all I ever got in my ear 'ole was "slow down" or " we feel sick in the back" or "I can't see out" or "why don't we just take the range rover"

No such problems in the Aston. Just me and the occasional volunteer / victim. Perfect.

I think little donkey is spot on.

The Mazzer is a Beautiful car, but never really connected with it.

Exhaust noise was amazing and straight line acceleration was good, but never really felt like a proper sportcar, and
the Vantage's drive-ability & handling is FAR superior.

Also, given its huge size, always felt big and awkward to drive. Never felt like an extension of me (if you know what I mean).
Now as soon as I learn to stop driving off with the handbrake still on, I think the Vantage will soon become that car!!!

Forget the hand brake unless vital. Just leave in reverse. Will save scuffing the side of the seat with your fingernails, too.

As for the Maserati's backseats, dont forget I sold the Maserati to buy the Golf GTI. A proper practical car.

But what happened every weekend? We always took the wife's car (golf plus). The baby seat was already in there, as was the pushchair.
Thus we never took the GTI.

So I figured, what the hell, never used the maserati & never used the golf gti (to take out family on weekends), I might as well by a 2 seater for myself!!

I have a nice 15-20 min, 8 mile commute through the countryside, thus the Vantage is perfectly suited for that. Might as well maximise the enjoyment of my short commute. And you know what, Missus doesnt care, cos even If I had bought a Rapide, Quattoporte etc etc, it would have been unused as a family car.
