Intermittent Meta alarm fob

Both my alarm key fobs seem to be intermittent, I've replaced batteries in both and they still seem to be operating when they feel like it. I'm wondering whether it is a problem with the alarm controller rather that both fobs. Anyone experienced this and can shed any light?
