Hey this is PH the collective knows everything...

'97 Honda Accord 4 door.

When locking the car the interior light remains on when set in the position for on with door open, off when shut.
Locking the central locking with the key in the drivers door sometimes locks then immediately unlocks the OS passenger door.
The alarm goes off seemingly at will.

It all seems related but what is the casue?

I'd say the little rubber button on the door or door frame, that is compressed when the door is shut, is broken.

No idea where it is on an Accord but you should be able to find it. Try pushing it in by hand and seeing if the light goes off.

You will need a door switch most likely. 35400-SK4-E01 from your Honda dealer.

Would imagine every Honda dealer in the land has those in stock.

ETA- it's located on the b pillar.

Thanks for the replies, and apologies for not replying sooner, been away for a PC all day.
I'll have fiddle with the light button and clean up the contacts see if it solves.
