Aston Martin Vantage

Hi everyone,

Just put my vantage in to be fixed after a meltdown last week and have been told that the the clutch and flywheel are worn out and that Aston won't cover because it's worn out - it's a 2 year old car with 20k miles; does that sound right??

Can't say for sure about Aston Martin but generally a warranty won't cover a wear and tear item such as a clutch if the part has failed due to wear and tear. If you can be sure that the clutch has not worn out after 20k due to yours or somebody else's driving then I would be looking to Aston to find out why it's worn so quickly and if there is some other underlying fault.

Here's a thought. What if clutches wear out early on a dual clutch box? The clutch is electronically controlled so is that fair wear and tear or a fault? As for the Aston, I seem to remember they're notorious for clutch wear.

This. Lots of Aston owners on here, lots of knowledge on the modern cars - more so than AMOC.
Would guess at that mileage its a Sportshift, not that uncommon.

It still has to be driven correctly. My car is a "slushmatic" normal torque converter auto and as there's no direct link I can sit on a hill and hold it on the throttle.

On an automated manual however you're riding, and ultimately burning, the clutch.

A lot of people don't understand the difference...
