I need a 12v power pack but it must have removable jump leads. I need it to power some 12v kit around a swimming pool, needs to have a cigar lighter socket to plug some adaptors into.

Anyone ideas?

Can't find any with removable leads (for reasonable money that is, some of the professional Draper etc ones have them), is that essential?

Yes essential it does not have jump leads, also no 230v inverter outlet. Can't find anything so far. It's to power 12v music system around a pool.

No chance of using a wired-in mains converter? Have the transformer in the house then run the low voltage lines down to the pool.

This is a contender, I also found http://www.powapal.co.uk which looks similar. It just looks a bit home-made, I like the form of the jump-starters, with the carry handle and rugged construction, it will need to be carried out and then stored in a locker with loads of other junk.

Did think of this, but it's a pool at a leisure club so needs to be totally portable, staff will setup when needed, just needs to be simple plug and play.

The Halfords jump pack I bought, had removable leads but it was utter crap and the battery packed in within weeks of buying it. I heartily suggest you don't buy it.

Why not just buy a battery, a charger and some cables? smile

Shirley a camping leasure battery would be better.
It'll probably last longer too.

Jump staeted batteries are designed for jumpibg, not for long term drain so may work differently. Ianaelectricalengineer.

I'm pretty sure both of mine have just been lead-acid accumulators in plastic boxes?

Or make your own, sounds like you just need a 12v lesure battery in a box really.

It's great that you cleared up the question about whether the battery would be different.

But did you really need to quote me before had chance to sort out that terrible typing.
I need a bigger phone keyboard. smile

This is nearly there, if only it did not have the 230v outlet, don't need the inverter. Maybe I could just blank it off with one of those child socket protector things...hmmm

Wouldn't expect it to be too hard to open up the case and disconect the inverter from the 12v supply, does mean you're paying for an inverter you're not using though

That Maplin one is only 5Ah. By way of comparison, a typical car battery will be about 50Ah. It ain't going to last long if you draw much current from it.

This poxy little thing has twice the storage capacity, and you could easily make up a lead to plug into it with a cigarette lighter socket on the end?

My max draw will be 30w @ 12vDC so that's 2.5 amps.
