If I have an image, how can I tell when it was taken?

I have 3 jpgs, is there anyway I can look at the data on the file and find out when it was taken?

You probably don't even need that. Right click>"Properties">"Summary">"Advanced" (in Windows XP) and the data are there. Whichever method you use though, it is reliant on the date and time having been set correctly in the camera.

They have got the dodgiest camera in the world then as it doesnt corroborate their evidence if it was slightly out, they need to have the date working to back up their evidence.

Property company are stating that 2 pictures was taken on feb 28th 2012 and removal of waste was undertaken 2 weeks later and the image says it was taken 2 days after they claim the work was done.

Same camera produces images in September 2012 (co-insides with work being underway on flat) they quote it as March 2012, so being charged for removal of waste off a site again with picture evidence that is 6 months out of date from when they say it is.

Also the difference in the image numbers is 3000... images 4077 and 4078 for 'feb', image 7578 for 'March', so they have taken 3500 pictures of work being done on different flats in 14 days for evidence of complaints.

Someone is telling porkies at the property management company, they are trying to charge a flat owner £600 for disposal of waste that he already paid contractors to remove and the contractors themselves removed it not the management company.

Does sound like someone is telling porkies.

Exif data is exactly as set on the camera remember, so it's possible they had it set right, removed the battery and never set the date, or set it wrong or whatever, so it's not really a 100% legit way of proving them wrong.. Although they wont necessarily know that...

for them to say that, it invalids at least one of their claims and as to them not knowing the date thing, all I will say is.
