Spooky, cats first and now dogs!

Until the summer we had both our Cavs insured with Directline, Gold policy(when you have a CAv you need good insurance!), conditions covered for life and £30pm ea.

One died back in the summer and the renewal has come through for the other...£54pm!

Now, I know we are losing a bit of discount as it's a single animal policly but that's a big increase. I did an online quote with DirectLine and it's £37pm for max any condition £6k. After the huge bill for the other dog last year we are a bit cautious now.

The Ex got on the phone to DL and they have dropped the fee to £44pm but have doubled the excess to £160 for any one claim and also removed a lot of things like 3rd party cover/holiday cover etc.

The only reason we are sticking to where we are is becuase of the issue of existing conditions - Lily has had a soft palet op in the past and still has some breathing issues that might need looking at in the future. She is 8 so has the usual heart murmour that breed has but never been treated for it.

Are we being penalised for the £5k claim on the other dog last summer? Are they just trying to get people to move to a new policy with the existing conditions not covered? Are they just being a comlete pain and making us pay though the nose - they have done our animal insurance for about 15years! Has anyone else seen their payments jump this much this year?

By cav do you mean cavalier King Charles spaniel?

I do indeed smile

We've had to go with the £44 option as the cover was about to expire. DirectLine were completely unmovable with this so we are stuffed if we want to keep her existing conditions covered. The Ex, who did all the call centre stuff, did say she felt there was some sort of mark against us for the big claim we put in on our other dog last year.

just picked up a 3 yr old cavalier and have gone with DL. £22 a month for their top package.
we have most of the cars with DL though, so i think there was a discount.

thumbup Enjoy!

£22 seems about right, I got her years and months switched when I did an online quote and it was that sort of figure.
