Does anybody have a feel for what sort of number/percentage of saloon M3s (E90) have been ordered with the fold down rear seat option?

I'm keen on the idea of an M3, and while a coupe might meet the requirement it seems less practical overall for my needs, and a saloon with folding seats would be ideal.

Alternatively, does anyone know if it's possible to retrofit the folding option to an E90 M3?

I suspect a low percentage but don't know the answer.

When I bought my pre- registered e90 in 2009, there were about 45 pre-reg cars put into the network and not one had folding rear seats.

I have recently bougth an E90 M3 and mine does have the folding seat option. Of the 4 or 5 cars I test drove 2 had the option but I suspect this percentage overstates the actual number that had the option.

Given the number of E90 M3's for sale appears to be drying up (there is now quite a void between the cheap 08 cars and the newer 10/11 plate cars for sale) you may struggle to find one that has it fitted.

Happy hunting.

It's a great car and worth waiting for one that suits your needs.
