Hi guys,

I've had an itch for a 4.5 Cerb for some time now, and this (below) has popped up on the classifieds.. If it's as good as it sounds it seems like a very fair price for the car...

I'm seriously thinking of putting a deposit on it as I can't get to see it until next week..

Any views or comments very welcome....

Cheers and thanks,

Chilli smile

Don't worry there will be others, if you start rushing into a buy you might shoot you're self in the foot

Hope beastie's not the jealous type! As Alex said don't rush in unless you or someone you trust has seen it.

If you cant get there ask some one to view the car on your behalf I used one of the well known experts for an inspection when I brought my Griff.

If it checkes out ok you should feel more comfortable about parting with a deposit and arranging to pay the balance when collecting.

The amount charged was a very small percentage and assured me not only of the mechanical condition but the authenticity or the car also.

I felt confident about checking out the car myself but it was 160 miles away, the inspection costs were no more than my fuel and a days lost pay.

Good Luck go for it!!

Can't you put a small deposit on it (refundable) and ask the seller to take it to a specialist of your choice for inspection. I did just that when buying my 4.5 Cerbera and TVR Power gave it a good going over and the thumbs up. I bought the car and it was superb. I still look back fondly about my years with a daily drive Cerbera.

Cerbera's are wonderful and greatly underrated. They are very fast, handle great (the long wheel base helps) and the noise is like nothing else.

Get it bought man!

Was that what you wanted to hear?

Rather than pay for an inspection pay for a service, get a stamp and a fully serviced car. If the specialist likes it buy it, if not dont!! If it needs work doing barter!! It des look nice!

I don't know - a good service will be many £100's where as a decent inspection probably £250 or so.

Anyhow - with a decent barter I think this one may come in around the same and you can call Austec for background - sounds spot on:

(sale is nothing to do with me btw.)

Nitron's with eibach springs.
Proven 411hp and around 425 ftlb of torque.
Fully Polly bushed using super power flex bushes.
Head light conversion.
Private plate.
FSH.

fk it - I'm going to the bank so see if I'm good for any more credit and a solicitor to handle the divorce when the wife finds out.

idea I wonder if they would do a straight swap for a Range Rover, a quad bike and a really big dog...

The figures for that Cerb are definitely optimistic.. The torque is way too high. Looks nice though, just don't go believing the pub ammo.

Funny you mention that car, I was talking to someone at the weekend who is looking for a cerb in that price bracket and that was the one I recommend he see as well! I did also advise him to get it inspected by an independent. Dan Taylor is in that neck of the woods.

I may be too late already frown

Thanks for all the input guys, much appreciated thumbup

Whilst all the major mods on the Chim are almost completed she's still a work in progress, in fact she's going to Sportmotive week after next for a headlamp conversion, bit of damage repair (under front offside indicator), front end respray, and 12000 mile service....

I've convinced myself that a Cerb will make the ideal stablemate to the Chim, and relish the idea of having to make 'hmmm, Chim or Cerb today' decisions.. smile With careful application of man maths this does seem to be a financially viable solution to fun motoring regardless of weather, distance, or passenger and luggage requirements... (not that passengers or luggage really come into it but it supports my simple but effective bloke logic) Thanks again,

Chilli smile

I should be down Sportmotive around then - which day is yours in, wouldn't mind a quick peek...

yes My thinking too, you have an easy way to make the choice on which car...is it raining or not?

Remember though, two TVR's is greedy but three or more is a collection. I'm working on gathering my collection. I think Griff 500, Cerbera, Tuscan and an early one...perhaps 3000M.
