cheers

That massively depends on how much fuel you are going to demand of the system..

I remade the petrol tank to add baffles and a chamber in the center, added a 5 litre swirl pot within the tank with 2 -12 outlets and had 2 lifter pumps installed in the chamber to feed the swirl pot... I then used 2 044's fed separately exiting into a -8 each... I then modified my fuel rail so that fuel enters on the power steering side in a -10 with the existing -6 returning to the fuel regulator and then tank. I have a high flow fine mesh filter installed just prior to the fuel rail and sock filters on the lifter pumps.

Of cause this may be a little further than you will want to go... but you did ask and it expands on Daddysumo's post smile

What your looking for from the car is the first question, you can then spec as required, could be that what you have is OK.

Ok cheers lads. Im really looking for 450 BHP. Andy youre right im prob not going to take it as far as you have lol.
I want to get rid of any restritions in the fuel line etc. ive read posts stating that things restrict the flow and end up breaking the bosh 44 pumps that people have installed. so im looking at what people have done with filters and any other restricting factors.

The reason I did all this to my fuel system is that with the stock setup the 044 almost always becomes noisy.... they shouldnt be noisy even when hot IMO.

The 044's requite a slight pressure on the feed side to run most efficiently, on a stock noble you do this via weight of fuel... so if you keep 1/3 to 1/2 a tank of fuel at all times you will be fine... run it low and they will become noisy in my experience.

if I was to modify a car like you I would feed the 044 with another pump say a stock noble unit, it wont have to supply a pressure thus it will flow a lot more than on a std noble and will be less prone to issues with low fuel ( of cause if you run it dry you will still have major issues and only a swirl pot will solve that).

This is what Gadge has done and it seems like the best solution to 450bhp without going mad IMO

Please check the low pressure flow of the stock pump though just to be 100% sure, but its worked on other cars to similar power smile

run the stock pump into an 044

the 044 is good for 700 hp in ideal conditions

make sure you replace the pipe from the tank to the first pump with something that wont kink or fold

make sure you run the pumps off a relay using the original wiring to switch them on and off

if you can drill the return pipe into the tank a slightly bigger size

If the fuel filter is between the 2 pumps then the stock one is more than up to the job... some people run it to 600bhp.

IMO the issue with the stock filter is when its between the tank and the 044 as it causes the 044 to have to suck fuel through and thus become noisy... the 044 actually has mesh filter built into it, however its not replaceable or cleanable.... I put my filter after the 044's and had a cause sock filter (on the lifters) to prevent large debris entering the pumps.

I was asking the same kind of questions last year and had a great response from everyone but I didn't want to go as far as andy as it sounds like a lot of work. I wanted a single pump that was quiet and could handle the 500bhp I was aiming for so I bought the DA-31 pump from driven 2 automive and it's been great so far. I asked trevor to keep an eye on the fueling when he mapped it last year and we had no problems, I've tracked the car twice and it's been fine, it also seems to be quieter than the standard pump.

The pump has a pre-pump filter built in so I fitted the standard fuel filter after the pump just incase, all the fittings are high flow and there's no sharp right angles. The pump is rated up to 700bhp and my cars running 505bhp. All good so far smile

Looks almost identical to the 044, glad it's going well and an easy swap if someone found the 044 to be a problem as its the same fittings

wink exactly, so if it fails me when I'm miles from home I should be able to find a replacement easy enough. (Fingers crossed I never find that one out)
