I am looking for the same thing at the moment.
I found Argos a good place to start the search. Seems that the market has gone for small devices all similar shape.
Panasonic, Sony and Hitachi all doing them. I would avoid Hitachi from personal experience.

There is a decent HD Panasonic HD-20 that is weather proof at Costco at the moment for £191.98 inc vat. This seems a good buy.

I was shocked how cheap these have become, I bout a mini dv recorded about nine years ago for £700. It must be the demise of moving parts that have forced prices down. I will probably go with Argos or Costco.

Anyone know if argos still take nectar points?

Hi Ray, we are on same mission. I looked at Argos, my 9-10 yr old small panasonic vid camera was £1400, mad prices then. Batteries were always crap though. I will check that one you recommend

YEs, My JVC one was massive money and the batter now lasts 5 mins. Its Mini DV too, which is a pain to get transfered onto DVD.

The model name of the costco one is Panasonic WA-20 (apologies) and its for sale at just over £190 inc vat at costco. I have a card if you are local to Reading?

I will research this model myself too.

PM me you e-mail and I can send you the cost co flyer with the deal on.....

ETA: I corrected the name of the costco deal - its a WA-20 and not a HD-20.....My bad....

How Bizzare !!

I read a couple of reviews of the WA-20 and it doesnt seem that good. Its waterproof for sports use, and hence the picture quality suffers. Battery life is poor.....

If you can stretch the budget we have Panasonic v700's at work and the quality is fantastic for what they are :-)
