What's the general consensus on best tyres for Boxster Spyder (Rears) and best value? Sorry if this has been done - but just looking to buy today.

Cheapest will be Pirelli's - but they wear quick.

Michelin the most expensive - wear and grip is excellent

Bridgstone is middle of the road and have stiff sidewalls which give sharpe turn in and stiff ride.

Choice is yours.....but they'll have to be 'N' rated.

Michelin Pilot Sports are a clear winner for N rated but not the cheapest.

Michelin Pilot Supersports have transformed my RS60. No N rating but if you are out of warranty that doesn't matter. Reviews suggest you can get a lot of mileage out of these than PS2s.

Event Tyres were great too:

Thanks - do they really need to be N rated for warranty?

are you not restricted in choice, as they should be (or must be) the same as the fronts?

Is that right?

In that case it's the Pirelli PZeros?

I wouldn't put different tyres on the back, but that's just me.

Porsche even says that same tyres, but different N rating not a good idea.

Err yeah, unless its a Mondeo I would ensure they are the same tyre. I wouldn't compromise on the only thing that connects me to the road, especially given I drive at 7000rpm everywhere.

I think I saw a Michelin tyre offer recently on PH...

Michelin are offering £50 fuel card cashback offer at the moment....Event tyres qualify for this offer and they are great mobile fitters

I wouldn't put anything different on the back than are on the front

But for next time, my Bridgestones are now on 15k miles and still have plenty of life left on them. No complaints regarding performance - my last Porsche was on Michelins and they didn't last as long.

Thanks - the fronts will probably outlive the rears by 3 to 1 at this rate!

Blimey. Zyp on here needed new rears at a pretty low mileage. Perhaps I'm not trying hard enough!

I can't say I drive my Spyder any differently to my 911 - I'm not opposite locking it everywhere I go but I don't pussyfoot around either. Tyre wear has been a very pleasant surprise with the Spyder.

Yep - under 5,000 on rears. Must have a heavy right foot!

Best, well take a look at the new GT3 it has Dunlop Race Maxx.
It's prob what I will be fitting, it won't effect any warranty claim.

Sit down before you look at the price of these things lol.

If you don't want to go so hard core pilot super sports are the only tyre of choice.
I have ran two full sets on my cars , had them from launch day.
