My J Reg Renault 5 GT Turbo
Discussion
Hi everyone. I bought my first 5 GTT last January.
Say hello to Raggy (now owned by another RTOC member)

I did love Raggy although he needed a lot of work on him. Being completely inept at mechanics I got a haynes and some spanners and met Sparkie (I owe many thanks too!) through this forum
I went through copius amounts of drive shafts, changed everything other than the engine on him then went a bit mad and stripped him out stuck a cage in and decided to use him as my daily driver lol. I found him quite tempremental but when i finished with him he was a solid car.
An ex RTOC member happened to be a family friend and he had a J reg 5 that had been sat his drive for a few years. I was just thinking about selling Raggy when he offered it to me! It was an offer I could not refuse! It was completely standard with a full interior and newly built engine. Had lots of little nice additions in the engine bay.

There were a lot of little jobs I got around to sorting. With thanks to some members on RTOC for bits! Front bumper was mashed up as it had had a meeting with a speed bump when andy owned it. I sorted most the little jobs out and just have some rust around the windscreen left to do.
I put some OZ 5 spoke alloys (running 195/45/15 rainsport 2's) on to replace the team dynamics black alloys.

I fitted a 2 1/2 inch down pipe, and 2 1/2 inch side exit. A GT28r running 20psi with a pace IC and Sparkie (RTOC legend) set my carb up for me. Needs a 285 cam really to finish the car off.
two together.
Well thanks for stopping by

Love these cars. Owned two of them.
If you're a member of the rtoc, could you find out if someone owns my old Raider please. H151 DBM
Not sure how to check the last time it was taxed. Anyone have a clue?
It's been off road for 9 years so looks like it is no more unless in a barn somewhere :-(If you're a member of the rtoc, could you find out if someone owns my old Raider please. H151 DBM

Off the top of my head... window switch failed, petrol tank split, suspension came apart, dial cluster stopped working, sunroof was leaking, door lock failed, fan was overheating, wasn't boosting correctly, engine was running rich, rear light clusters failed electrics, oh and it randomly cut out a number of times!
Still love them though!

You're a very lucky man! I owned mine for 9 months, and for around 6 of those months it was on my drive being repaired

Had to sell it when I inherited an F red '89 XR2 as my company car. Which was s
t in comparison.
