Promod Griffith Model from ebay
Discussion
I saw it and brought it.....
Did anyone on PH shell out for one of the Promod 92' Griff models on ebay? Mine was delivered today, but advertised as mint and new is far from it....
Flat paint, orange peel, scracthes, rear wheel not sitting in arch straight....
Anyone else had the same issues?

To be honest I've never seen one of these finished to a high standard.
This is a very old casting, most seem to have been dealer promotional give aways, there were a load done for Portfield's in yellow for example.
White metal models generaly need a lot of prep time on them to get a good finish, particularly to modern standards. I bought one of these 12 years ago very cheaply with drop damage and rebuilt it to replicate my car, easy to dismantle.
There should be resin headlamp covers which seem missing on the e-bay batch, and some had quarterlight details as well.
The SMTS 1/43 Griff is far superior but pricy and no pre cat version available, Spark are supposed to release a pre cat in black at some stage but no release date anounced yet.

Think so, believe this may be the same but a better picture. `91 500.http://www.diecastlegends.com/diecast-brands/spark...
Yep, that's the one, now they have added a picture it's obviously not a pre cat! The Promod looks like the only option still for that. Annoying Spark listed it as a '91 car though.
The TVR's I've seen listed for future release from Spark are:
S0225 1991 Griffith, Black
S0231 TVR Taimar, Silver, red band
S0226 TVR Tuscan/Vixen V8
No anticipated dates for any of these yet.

I have the Promod model in several colours, yellow Portfield, green with ltd edition cert, silver, red and black...the yellow and green are to a good finish but the others aren't great and as said before some have headlight covers and some don't...
Looking forward to the Spark one, didn't even know they were doing it and if previous models are anything to go by it wouldn't take much for them to do a precat version if the demand was there...
Cheers, Al.
