What is the average size of a single garage? I'm going to be looking for a hoose soon, I need a garage to fit my Excel in. It's about 15foot by 6 and I'd like space to scrabble round it if possible.
Any advice appreciated!

2.4mx4.8m internally, with around a 2.1m entrance width dependent on door style and frame width. (Which comes to 8'x16' with a 7' entrance in old money.)

Be wary of new build houses as developers often shrink the garage so you can't actually fit a car in.

Width is normally 1" less than you need to get out of the car once you've driven it in...

hehe agreed, suddenly old car washing sponges and some No More Nails come in handy to bounce the doors off

This. Amount of houses i have looked at where the developer seems to think everybodg owns a fiat 500 so thats all they need to build for.

For new houses, slightly smaller than the average single car frown

For our 1935 house it is 5.1m x 2.8m (approx 16ft x 9ft), ie just about enough room to take all the assorted junk, cycles, garden machinery and tools, ride-on toys, etc (the cars still have to live outside though smile)
