What car to buy?

Morning everyone.

I need to buy a new car as we have a baby on the way. The criteria is:

Estate car
Dog friendly (Labrador)
Enough space for 2 adults, 1 baby, 1 x 5 year old and all associated crap that is necessary (pushchair, luggage etc etc)
IT MUST ALSO BE FUN!!!

I was thinking about an old shape RS4 Avant, M5 Touring, RS6/S6 Avant, E55/63 but they may be a bit too risky on a 15-17k budget.

Am I missing anything obvious or otherwise? I would like under 80k miles and less than 7 years old.

Any suggestions?
