I bought my first 911 in November 2003 (nearly 10 years ago). It is a 996 GT3RS and I still own it today and have covered 13,800 miles in it. My only other 911 experience is when I bought a new 991 C4S in December.

The GT3 was due for its MOT today so I dug it out the garage and drove it up the road to get it warmed through before going to the MOT station. I have been driving the C4S this week and I couldn't believe how old fashioned the GT3 now feels by comparison. It is small, twitchy and you sit so high up in it compared to the C4S. My memories from last year in the GT3 were of being part of the car and nestling down behind the wheel. I am sure that a few more miles and a track day will get the feeling back but it does make you realise how far 911 road cars have come in 10 years. The 991 C4S is so fast, sure footed, comfortable and sounds great. Can't wait now to see the 991 GT3RS.

13800 miles in 9 1/2 years! You need to get out more. That's the sort of thing Ferrari owners do.

Chalk and cheese - aren't you comparing a minimalist track car with a luxury GT confused

Don't think I've ever felt I was sitting high in a 996 GT car and I'm over 6 foot! biggrin

Probably the more upright windscreen giving the impression of being high up?

I found that I had to drive my RS regularly to get back into it. 1380 miles per year won't get you there I reckon!

Will you take £32k? biggrin

Ok I'll go to £32.5k.

Or £10k and a vintage 993?

I, on the other hand have only owned one 911; my 991 Cab, so I can't really compare with the older ones. I nearly bought a GTS but when I knew the 991 was coming I changed my mind. Mind you I can't drive it at the moment as I've a fractured little toe!

MOT went well thanks. Gratuitous picture below. I had to wash it in order to take this so your request did me a favour. It's now raining again!

Thanks for the cash offers - I'll sleep on it smile

As for how the car feels, the comments are right. They serve different purposes - I appreciate that. It is just startling that actually the 991 does much of what the GT3 can do and so much more besides.

It's normal progress. Lets be honest, a modern hot hatch would obliterate a 2.7RS! Does it matter? Does it hell.

I am sure that the 991 will be faster than the RS in any measure, so is the RS redundant?

Hi Howard, hope your well. So two Porsche 911s in this pic, does this mean the 968 CS has gone?

Hi Warren. I hope you and the 993 are well. I hope the 968 is a car to keep for the long term. It took a long time to prize it from Jason's grasp so I can't let it go easily! We have had some great times with it and both the kids have driven it in sprints and on track days.

Nice one Howard. Hope you are well mate. You should stop by sometime for a cup of tea and show me that 991.

And you cant sell that RS, no way. Love the 991 though, nice choice.

Hi Howard, can you tell us more about sprint racing?
