Hi Cossers, an alternative thought; don't take the plenum off, and don't spray it! Yours looks reasonable mate, so why not mask off and cover up all around, then using a tooth brush and nail brush with some WD40 (great stuff, I have a 5L container in my workshop which I decant into a 'bug gun'), gently brush into the grain of the aluminium. Yo can also use some fine wire wool but be careful of strands getting into places. When finished you can wipe down with some towelling type cloth. You will be surprised how it comes up and it will be natural and not look too silver! I have used that method a lot in my engine bay, even to bring up the swirl tank (I finished it off with metal polish). Also, the WD40 leaves a nice protective film. Just a suggestion, might be worth a go before you strip everything off. Regards, Pete

From memory I am sure the shaft splits at the coiled spring as you have marked in your pic. Be careful when removing this spring as the sharp ends can be quite viscious as they unwind, and also that the ends are positioned correctly when re-assembled.

I removed the throttle pot. and had no trouble re-fitting it as it only fits one way.

Don't forget (as I did) to re-connect the small hose which is beneath the breather hose before you re-fit the plenum. This also a good time to get access to the seat of the stepper motor for cleaning.

Finally with the plenum off this is your best access for changing the three fuel hoses to the fuel rail.

Alltogether an easy and staightforward job.
