IVA passed on Tuesday. My car is the blue one on the Ultima Facebook page having its IVA test.

Just waiting on the DVLA to issue it a reg number then good to go. Hoping to be on the road in 10 days time.

Any tips for the first drive? 705hp and fresh tyres and brakes! The temptation to open her up must be too much to resist!

Am I right that modern engines don't need much if any running in?

My tip? Don't say "Watch this!"

I try to be sensible until the engine and oil is warmed. After that I use more of the rev range. Not easy to do with a large engine in the UK. I'm sure you'll get varying opinions on running in.

Wait until the tyres are warm before touching the throttle!

Congrats that is a very nice GTR you have there. Mine will be a few years behind sadly.

Blue - the best colour! wink

Trying to explore the performance in this weather is a recipe for disaster! Get a feel for the car an once it warms/dries up a bit, then stretch its legs a bit.

Sounds like a fantastic car - my next will be LS powered.

Enjoy it and keep it in one piece (I'm mindful of the buyer of my 630hp GTR who wrote it off within a month of taking ownership of it frown )

That was part of my thinking when I asked the question!!!

My tip would be to leave it at the Factory unless the weather is dry and the salt has been washed off the road.

There will be temptations to show other drivers "what she can do" when they encourage you. Resist these until you are familiar with the car.

When I purchased the Cerbera I drove it back from near Bath in torrential rain. The previous owner had lowered it and wound up the dampers so that tiny throttle openings had the rear end stepping out. I was a nervous wreck by the time I got home!!!

Ouch risky thought riding a bike in jeans and T-shirt even in the dry..

Enjoy the drive home' another remember is a big v8 has lots of torque so just because its low rpm and high gear doesn't mean it won't wheel spin'' if you have never ever driven anything so fast and are worried, ask the factory if there is a way of ll restricting throttle( a stopl or lots of slack if it has a cable)

Hi,

I saw that at the factory yesterday. Great build, super interior, you should be pleased, you've made a great job. I'm about 6 months behind you, and it might, just might, be a bit warmer then.

I haven't seen her with the windscreen on yet. That and the helicopter ventscarevthe only bits I didn't fancy taking on.

Thanks for the comments. Factory standard interior, but fairly pleased with the leather trimming and alignment of switches and gauges.

Looks great, even if it is factory standard. Their standard is pretty damned good, and so is your work. BTW just to buck the trend I'm not going to refer to mine in the feminine like some do, I think I'll call mine Gilbert. You know, that old chap in the corner of the pub wearing outrageous clothes that mostly sits there being quiet and unnoticed, but just once in a while erupts in a thunderous roar causing mayhem and madness. Come to think of it...????????yes

I really like the factory interior. In my opinion it suits what I want the car to be. Functional rather than luxurious. Like Ferraris used to be many years ago...

Some go for amazing bespoke interiors which are brilliantly done and real works of art, but that wasn't what I was after in my build.

Hopefully I will be driving her(or him!) down the M1 next Wednesday!

Funny that, you've just made me realise why I've done what I have with the interior. My previous restoration was a Ferrari 328 and what I'm subconsciously doing is recreating that interior but with a modern and "Ultima" twist. Wierd, I would never have tought it. Thanks a lot.
