I was intending to book for the Spa track day in September but it's a sessioned event rather than open pit lane.
I've never really liked the session format on track days and much prefer the flexibility of open pit lane. I know a few on here did this trip last year - was it also sessions then and how did you find it?
It also made me question the value of hiring wheels & tyres - at £450 for this then assuming 3 x 20 mins in the morning and 4 x 20 mins in the afternoon - then 2hrs 20 mins of track time does £450 represent good value? The tyre wear on a decent track like Spa is not going to be too excessive for 2 hrs use I think?

Yep I know that I kept it very quiet, but myself Tony and Miss Daisy went last year. tyres were a lot cheaper @ £250 I think, but I had them and both Tony and Richard said that they wish they had. On the way home they had massive vibration through the car due to the tyres picking up and I absolutely wore the 2 x fronts with the hard braking / cornering.
The problem is lots of high speed corners that do wear the tyres if pushing on. Also there is more than enough track time, I gave up sessions for my Mrs to have a go also as I had given the car enough of a thrashing. Trust me, the 5 - 6 laps in each session x 7 sessions is plenty. Very well run and lots of lovely food

According to the briefing at Oulton the other day, apparently some guy went straight on at Knickerbrook, and then came back round the track facing the wrong way! Someone going around the track in the wrong direction

This is why you're getting so much chatter of the rear tyre.... Coming into lodge it was very noticable...
You're banging down the box, on no revs, and this engine braking will really unsettle the bike, and make it hard to turn in..
You can get away with it on a bike with a slipper clutch, but on an old CBR you need to give some rider input into down changes..
Check this chap out... Especially when he's making multiple down shifts for the slower corners..

This might be a better example..... But Lee Costello is a pro rider... But listen to how he revs on his downshifts... I'm sure it'll help smooth out that chatter

I know! I do try it sometimes but am yet to perfect it. More focusing on lines and braking zones at the moment (I keep turning in too early).
Still, I think I'm not doing too bad for someone who's only had a bike license for 5 and a bit months! Never really riden a bike before that too. Was at Cadwell today in the wet. What a great circuit that is, except for the hairpin!
