I am putting a Saphire 2 WD cosworth into a mk1 cortina and have been looking on e bay at the stainless steel 4 branch manifolds. They range in price between about £160 to £190. Has anyone any experience of these products

Presume you've converted it to NA then. Surely now there must be lighter engines to transplant?? I remember my old 2wd (turbo) lump was VERY heavy...

YBs are about 155kg, depending on the version. There's still no Ford engine in it's league imo.

Have you not thought about Audi 20v 1.8t engine, very much lighter and a damn sight more reliable. Bellhousings are available to mate to ford boxes as well.

Much as I love my YB it is 20+ years old.

Rebuilt correctly a YB engine will be reliable beyond 500bhp its the gearbox & diff that need changeing.

That's what I'm hoping when my engine returns from Reyland, should be just over the 500bhp. I was a little disheartened after it failed after only 350 miles post 1st "rebuild".
