Rainwater - where the hell is is getting in??
Discussion
Just looking for ideas from you guys on where the rain is getting in to my precat Griff. Everytime it raisn behind the driver's seat is sodden and yet the passenger side is perfect and bone dry. Have fabsiled the hood and rear parcel shelf is also bone dry everywhere. I'm baffled as to how this darned water is getting in.
Any ideas before I spend money having it retrimmed and it all gets ruined again??

I struggled with this for years. In the end I found it to be the same problem as dnb, water entering the wing via the door lock This is normal and there is a drain hole at the bottom of the wing near the chassis rail. The problem was that the rain drops were tracking into the carpet around the area of the seat belt reel.
In the end I solved this by gluing a long polythene strip on the inside of the wing just above the flap access to the door lock mechanism. Not the easiest thing to do (reach and access wise), but as long as the polythene is long enough to reach the bottom of the wing the water can track straight to the drain hole and not into the carpet.

I think it is worth checking around the door seal area, you should notice that there are 2 recess in the seal at the bottom by the kick plate, this is to allow water to escape over the kick plate and away but if they are not present say if the seals have been replaceed and without taking note of the recess or not pronounced enough it will allow water to dribble into the footwells.
To confirm this as you open the door check for a wet seal, I would bet that the water is coming in one side more than the other because that is the way that any the rain blows where it is parked??
Hope this helps.
