timing after engine rebuild - where to start

hi guys, ok engine nearly all back together - got to put the dizzy back in tomoz - so set it to TDC? so roughly 0 deg on the crank pulley and insert the dizzy and get it to point to roughly the position of no 1 plug lead?

Yes - but remember there are 2 TDC's!

Inlet and exhaust valves closed - point the rotor arm at cylinder 1

Correct no1 being nearside forward pot.

You'll soon know if you get the wrong TDC, it will backfire nicely on the exhaust stroke!
