Which Ale?

Hi guys, tonight i have tried:

Wychwood Hobgoblin
Wychwood Goliath
Acorn brewery Barnsley gold
Black Sheep goldern sheep
Old speckled hen
Spitfire

As an ale newby ive got on with the Wychwood ales straightaway. Very easy drinking, but all are easy to get on with (spitfire not very nice tbh). Drinking pasturised bottles at home. Whats your fave, any recommendations? Am really looking forward to trying hand pulled live ales in pubs - ive falled out with lager atm.

Rebellion brewery in marlow, red, blonde or nutty. All very good. Can get mail order if not local. Drinking it now, swapping between red and blonde.

Wychwood's Wychcraft and Circlemaster ales are excellent, definitely worth a drink.

Im lucky in that we have a local village brewery in tring brewery who dont make a bad beer.

My only complaint is Id like to see more beers around the 5% mark.

The new Moongazer that I have here right now is a fantastic ale - very nice on the nose and a great flavour.

Hobgoblin is like a whole meal in a pint. Awesome.

Theres a place in Leeds - Packhorse, that does it (hobgoblin), apparently its 4.5% (bottle is 5.2%?) That flavour with that alcohol content excites me! Trip planned tomoz...

Not bad - I've had it several times.

Robinson's Unicorn is decent enough... especially if you can get it on a mix and match deal with Old Tom, too.

(Usually on offer in ASDA... yes, I know!)

old empire I.P.A is a fav of mine but more of a summer tipple.

I'm completely committed to supporting my local brewer: When I lived in West London, that was Young's (Wandsworth) and Fuller's (Chiswick).

Now that I live in Surrey, it's Hog's Back / Shere Drop all the way - and I don't even like beer, except for cooking. :0

However I really can't understand why so many Surrey pubs only offer say, 'Doom Bar' (Cornish), when we have so many great local beers on our doorstep.

Makes no sense to me.

Sharps (brewer of Doom Bar) are owned by Coors. I suspect there's a lot of tie-ins with their other stuff.

It's not as good as Tribute IMO.

And to the OP, welcome to the world of proper beer. I got stuck in to some Zebedee (Rebellion) earlier.

You could look out for Tradewinds by the Caingorm Brewery.

Also, Mr Kipling by Thornbrige or Bitter & Twisted by Harveistoun.

A second vote for marstons old empire ipa here,sooo much flavour and properley strong.
Summer lightning from hopback is lovely too but in these colder months its adnams broadside for me,i love it that much i go from preston to southwold every year to visit the brewery!
