Here is my first car. It's a 1998 fiesta zetec 1.25 16v. Bought it for £270 10k miles ago and all it has needed is a new clutch. Previous owner was a lady for 14 years so I know it's not been ragged to death. Pretty nippy with its 75hp, also weights nothing.

It has an induction kit and a full straight through system. Plans are to maybe put a puma engine in it and make it a track car!

Lucky boy! These things are fantastic fun, I have one atm and having bought two other project cars and currently being a jobless 18yr old I really should sell it but I just cant bring myself to get rid of it! Few things will be as grin inducing as one of these round the backroads, a mixture of fantastic engineering and a relatively disposable feel to it (or mine at least hehe ) means it gets thrashed to the limit and beyond at every opportunity.

Always wanted to drop a puma engine in mine, never got round to it though and probably wont bother now. I wouldnt get that dashboard, the standard white faced one is nice and classy, those look a bit tacky and would probably be a bit overpowering at night. Each to his own though.

The best engine to have in a Fester. Yamaha developed and so thrashable!

Great little cars and so much fun - had one as a courtesy car for a week and utterly enjoyed playing in it smile

Please get rid of those blue headlights, always seem to blind me when they're coming at me!

Nice 1st car, you've got the good engine there, my m8 had one with a 1.3 Endura in it, bloody terrible

Nice!
I had one as my first car in 2004, was a 99 T plate.

Awesome cars, just look out for bits of rust on the rear arches.

My wife had one of these new back in '99. Super little car, went round corners like it was on rails and the engine begged to be thrashed. Didn't appear to use any fuel either. I used to borrow it all the time. Well done!

Engine does respond really well and I find it pretty nippy, keeps up with a mates diesel fiesta zetec s, think the timing belt is on it's way out though as it can squeal alot sometimes. Does anybody know why it says zetec-s on the rocker cover? Also on all the rubber pipes? I thought only the mk5 was the zetec s of that shape?

Fuel economy is alright but as said above if you push it it does use a lot, also found a slight fuel leak on it the other day when it was on the ramps.

The lights are just 5 LED's on the sidelight bulb that give it a blue tint!

One of the other main reasons I bought it is because it likes to destroy vauxhall corsa's!

And to think we bought ours so my missus could take our son to nursery and then go to work. Right of passage I suppose!
