So we have less than a week until the start of the second race of the season in Malaysia.
Have we see a true representation of all teams performance, or once they're in the heat will we see the true pace of the Redbulls?
Will Kimi continue to capitalise on his car' soft approach to tyre wear?

Alonso commented on Kimi being able to do a two stop in Australia then pushing away being more of an issue in Malaysia. Basically the cars that are better with there tyres will have more of an edge in Malaysia if dry.
Ferrari nor Redbull can make the necessary changes in 4 days IMO so i think its Kimi's again if dry.

Kimi will not win if there's multiple pit stops needed for wets/drys etc.

Weather so far looks interesting! But as any rain that falls is likely to be monsoon we could be looking at delays again...

At least if it is wet it gives Button half a chance to get a decent early result. It was enough to get Alonso started last year when the car was terrible.... A bit of wishful thinking really I know.Weather

but we've already seen the mclaren in wet conditions, and it was... slow.If I remember correctly Sepang has quite a few slow corners with a couple that are flat out.
So, braking and traction under acceleration will be important. Isn't it known to be a bit bumpy too ?
So cars with high tyre deg (RBR) or poor handling (McLaren) might perform better than in Australia if they have decent traction, but then if they have poor balance the constant momentum shift may slow them down.
There seems to be less direction change than Melbourne, so that might help them too.
Will the bumps cause McLaren problems ?
That means that a car light on its tyres may not have such a big advantage, so the Lotus and FI may have a bit more of a fight on their hands.
I'm interested to see what Sauber can do, Australia was a bit of a non-event for them.
If its wet it will turn in to a lottery, what year was it that McLaren got completely caught out by rain in qualifying and didn't get out of Q1 ?
Mercedes will be hoping for car reliability and no doubt will be working hard this week to prevent the problem that sidelined Nico, even if its temporary fixes "in the field" as it were.

IF and it's a big IF, the Red Bull race pace is off compared to how they're qualifying at the moment now is definitely the time for Ferrari/Lotus to capitalise before the updates start to arrive from Barcelona onwards. It's definitely going to be another good season.
Have Red Bull designed a car that has so much mechanical grip, that on short runs it can cain everything else, but it also destroys the 'weak' modern tyres - the car is performing too well for the tyres?? Don't think it will take Seb long to back off his qualy pace and have much smaller gaps to the field, but take less out of his tyres. So he can then scamper off at the start of the race. Really looking forward to another weekend of guessing what is going to happen come the race- I really hope the weather holds off and we get a full dry weekend.

Wouldn't count on it. Apparently the McLaren is riding very stiff which doesn't bode well for wet performance. Jenson is strong in the wet but not a miracle worker.We will probably have a different winner for Malaysia, as with the season start last year, as the tyres are also the key this year.
It will be unpredictable which is not a bad thing unless you like gambling!
