Chaps and chappesses,

Are the original style wheel barrow exhaust tail pipes silencing or not? The ACT ones appear to be but I like the current sound. I don't like the Blueflame tailpipes though which visibly increase in diameter and in my book that looks a bit stupid and is bordering on Saxo territory. I'd like the original style tailpipes which appear constant diameter as far as you can see them.

See what I mean?

Does anyone know where I could get my hands on a pair of original tailpipes without buying a whole new exhaust system?

The factory fitted system for the V8's looks like this:

I just bought this one and fitted it yesterday to replace my ACT tailpipes. It fits directly onto the centrepipes.

As far as I know they aren't currently available new, although Gruffalo reckons one might be available soon. It took quite a bit of hunting around to find mine second hand.

They make exhausts for ACT but cheaper if you can get them to sell you an item rather than going through a ACT.

Correct me if I am wrong but ACT do the R&D and then sub contract the manufacturing, so if you want to stop new parts being developed for our cars then go ahead and cut out the innovators, I for one will go via ACT as I see this as the ethical route to take.

JP will do what ever you like unless its made for somebody else specialy. Websites sell JP exhausts and parts more expensive than you can pay for them direct.

Same if you want hoses.

Put TVR on a label and it costs more. Put Rolls Royse on an early Royse gearbox and its 12 times the price of the same GM box.

Jp will do you stuff but the ACT is under licence & they get you to go through ACT & also pay ACT. As for "original" stuff I don't know. They kept my old system (when they promised to send it back) as they said they didn't have a speed six Cerbera one,& wanted to measure it up etc.As far as I'm aware the back box & tail pipes are the same as the ajp.So I imagine they should have no problems.

Correctly so, Tim @ ACT did the development iirc it's cheaper to buy direct from him.

Just waiting on a conventional back box suppression level and style that fits the bigger bore intermediate pipes. All assuming I get the car MOT'd this year, what's the long range weather forecast, didn't bother last summer as I spent 4 of the '6 month summer' out of the country.

Quite agree, plus why would JP compromise a relationship from which they receive significant repeat business to do a one off for someone else.

Thanks for the responses folks. It was actually just the tailpipes themselves I wanted rather than the back box etc. I like the current system - I just think those tips look daft that's all.

The ACT tips do look good IMO but don't think you can purchase then on there own

They come with the rear boxes so just depends how you want to hook them up to our system

Thanks. That's what I need. Might just need to buy the ACT setupwhen I'm feeling like I have too much money.

The tail pipes aren't separate on the standard box, they are welded to it.

Thank you smile

I can see that now from the photo above. It's not a priority expense for the car so it's something I can do at a later date once I've sorted out my remaining niggles. I'm developing a list of things I need or want to do to improve the car so this can be added to it and prioritised accordingly.
