Take the green slip off them and a receipt if you really want to buy it, then send the slip off with a form (V62?)

Same rules apply as a normal V5.

We're not saying that. Just that only having the new keeper slip isn't a problem in itself.

How can we determine that for sure from the minimal info in the OP?

Hpi?
Is it too good an offer?

One day and she don't like it I know women are a pain but one day would set alarm bells ringing.

I'd be more concerned about whether the mileage is genuine on a 78k one of these with no history than the V5.

So have they got any other paperwork - previous MOTs, a service book etc? Might help verify the mileage ....

Have you looked at "other ads from Christine"? Seems they're also selling a Kia Picanto because they "need a larger car". Might still be legit...

There's not a single diesel mondeo that's nine years old with less than 100k miles on. Most went past this before their third birthday.

gumtree = scrumtree for cheap cars from dubious vendors.

Buying with the V5c is fine, just send it off to dvla, no charge to get the v5 in your name.

Beware of no history and you need the V5 ref number to do a vosa mot history check, its probably done 170,000 miles if its got no history.

Lady owner. Yeah, for one day!
If it turns out to be bent, can you afford to lose the £1500?

O_O

You had best be wrong!... I kinda bought the car..

Heres how it went down:

Got to ladies house, had a look around car, she didnt have a scooby doo what anything did or even how to open the bonnet (hidden keyhole behind badge on front grille... Wtf?!) then she let me take it for a spin.

it ran ok, very smooth, very quiet too, and pulls like a fricken train.

Got back to look at what paperwork she had for it.

- owners manual
- stereo manual
- current mot
- last years mot
- garage invoice and credit card receipt for injector replacement (owner before her, this month though)

The current mot cert has a bit on it that says "odometer reading and history" under it it says

20/11/2012 - 75969
07/12/2011 - 69431
06/09/2010 - 59018
14/08/2009 - 49335

The old mot (from 07/12/2011) doesnt have a history bit, but states current milage as 69431 ( so it matches)

As for the lady being a con artist... If she is/was then shes bloody good! She did a very convincing job of being clueless and was scatty as hell! She then displayed what i feel was genuine concern about het sending me the log book to fill in and sign then send off incase i dont and she gets sent my parking fines!

So she said she will call me when she gets the log book (in approx 2 weeks)

I wont be driving it until i sell my celica first so for a week or so its gonna be on my driveway.

If she is muggin me off how would i know? What could i do? Surely she isnt, i know where she lives... Speaking of, while i was test driving she says she wants a bigger car, but not mondeo big, something lime a focus as she doesnt feel confortable driving such a big car.

Any tell tale signs if its done loooooads of miles?

Hopefully its all legit and im just a luck s.o.b that got a super deal biggrin
