New car indecision... A daily obsession!

I'm in the helpful position of having sold my old car, and having access to the wife's 'daily' as and when. Been planning a new car for some time but I just can't make up my mind as to what to go for - as soon as I think I've made up my mind, I either wuss out at the thought that it will cost me a fortune to run, or to the other extreme, go off the idea as I'm frightened its too dull!

It doesn't help that many of the cars I'm looking at are relatively unusual (and all would be secondhand) so I can't just pop down to a main dealer for a test drive!

So far my obsessing has gone through the following....

996tt
Maserati 4200
Monaro
VXR8
Mustang
Focus RS mk1 and 2
135i convertible
M6
E39 M5
E60 M5
E46 M3 convertible
E46 M3 CS
S-type R
993 carrera
996 carrera

I'm going round in circles,and then every once in a while the bargain basement thread catches my eye!

Anyone else have such issues?

I'm the same, I know I want to buy something but I can't decide what and it rotates on a daily basis

As I'm in no hurry or rush to buy it could be a long process...

Life is easier at the lower end of the budget scale. If I want to try a car, I buy it, drive it for 6 months then sell it and try another.
It keeps motoring interesting.

Yup, my budget isn't as high as yours, but I regularly change my mind between the following:

BMW M3 E36
Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon
Mazda 6 MPS
Skoda Octavia VRS
BMW 330i E46
Volvo S60 T5
Mondeo ST220

Heart is set on a 330i at the moment, but I get so fed up with it all that I feel like I don't want a car at all some days!

I have a severe allergy to the BMW brand unfortunately so the 335i / M3 options are out.

I need a car which can transport 3, driver and two kids and school bags.

Apologies for the bit of thread hijack in the contribution.

I would love the Maserati or the 996tt but am scared of the bills... What other options?

Forgot about the Audis... RS4 and S4 cab have featured too, and most recently E and CLS55s... Trouble is there are just so many amazing cars out there for a reasonable budget!

Need to be able to get a kiddy seat in the back for if I want a day out in it with the family so the 'vette is out. Anything else considered, manuals preferred, extra points for wind in the hair stuff.

Budget - could manage a bit over £20k if need be but prefer in the £10-15k bracket with minimal depreciation.

At the budget a 996 is hard to ignore. My mate bought a 996 for mid teens and then had a 7k engine rebuild cost.

Scary.

But glorious sound and quick too, warranty would have saved him...

In exactly the same situation and have been for the last few months. New tyres and insurance suggests i'll be keeping this one for a bit longer!

Follow that up with the same search on ebay. 6 correct in the lottery would be nice...

It really would be quite scary if I was to tot up the amount of time I 'waste' between PH, AT, and eBay!
