*really* smooth tarmac - tyres?

I'm a convert to 25c for general road riding, but I have some events coming up this year which will be on really smooth tarmac (i.e. FIA car race track smooth). I'm thinking of bunging my 23c's back on for those events and ramping up the pressure to c.120psi (I'm 70kg).

The tyres in question are conti GP4000s in both sizes. I can see how the rolling resistance argument favours 25c on normal roads, but that doesn't extend as far as indoor track cycling for instance.

25c less aero as wider but would imagine 6 of 1 half a dozen of the other.

If the Tarmac really is that smooth go with some super light tyres - veloflex records perhaps

seems a shame to stick with a bike if it's FIA spec tarmac.

have you considered using something a bit quicker altogether?

in my experience, race track tarmac has loads more grip compared to normal tarmac which is very noticeable on a bike so I would definately go with the 23s and dont ride anywhere near the outside of the track where the bits of rubber end up.

Oh yes ;-) One of the circuits is the ring. I'll be doing it by bike for the Rad am Ring (second year for me) and by car for the VLN (production class E36 M3 with slicks). Can't wait.
