Anyone work for Dyson?

I went for an interview there before Christmas. I wore a suit out of respect for the fact I was attending an interview, although the Head of Advertising was very casual.
I have since heard that it is a bit of a sweat shop and have a very high staff turn over. Cool Harrier in the car park though

Small team which would give the game away so would rather not say which part,
I wil be suited, as I suspect I think the same as you do.
Looks like a lovely part of the world, just a bit scary if you are moving there given the lack of alternative employers in the immediate vicinity (Bath is not far, but trying to get IN to Bath seems impossible 99% of the time).

Have a mate who works there, he likes it, lots of young ish people (20-35) which fresh ideas etc
He says its good but the usual office politics and similiar, for all its all hip and modern it sounds like any big company underneath
Not much recruitment in local area, but Swindon down the road has good varied employment for a big town
Bristol the other way is similar but bigger!

I have also had email contact with a chap who has worked there for 15 years but for him it sounds like a better experience.... having been interviewed by Dyson himself, having free reign for recruitment in his department and not too much involvement with things outside of his area.

You have to take glassdoor reviews with a pinch of salt, but the reports seem to be consistent. Sounds like a dysfunctional organisation with high turnover

I used to work there, but we are talking 10 years ago.
Back then, to get on, you had to be a company man and think that working at Dyson was to be at the very zenith of engineering and innovation.
On one occasion a team of young engineers and their managers were getting in a bit of a tizz about some problem or another and I said words to the effect of:
“Come on, let’s keep things in perspective, we’re designing vacuum cleaners, not nuclear submarines” (I had just come from a role in the nuclear industry).
I could tell by the look on the managers faces that I was never going to be a Dyson man.
I left shortly afterwards.

I tend to judge companies where (as per contact I had with Dyson about a year ago) I message someone in HR via LinkedIn and they come back with "here's a link to our careers page, keep an eye on it". I tend to wonder in this case whether they would really ever consider employing me if they are of the opinion I've never before looked at their careers page.
I'll perhaps stick to finding recruiters for jobs in the Bristol area and south of the M4.
