The official PH 'automotive stuff and things' review thread
Discussion
I couldn't find a thread where people could offer their personal reviews of all things motoring related. So if you have used a product or particular item and wish to share your (personal - not related, associated or affiliated with PH) thoughts and opinions, good or bad, then share away in here!
I'll kick things off with a few quick ones:
Goodyear windscreen wipers http://www.goodyearwiperblade.com/?mid=main
Picked up a set (driver & passenger) of these in Costco for around £12 - Fitment was a dawdle and they've done exactly as you'd expect of a windscreen wiper. No noticeable difference in noise from the 'Flat-blade' type from Halfords that were fitted previously and they've lasted a few frosty scrapes across the screen without any damage to them. considering Bosch blades are c£20 I think these are a bargain
Rubber Boot Liner: No link/pics
Also from Costco, this cost £12, measures 80x100cm and is of a substantial thickness. Stops items sliding around the boot and protects the carpet from things like screenwash spillages etc. Ideal.
Halfords Professional Socket Set - http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/...
A great set for the average motoring DIY'er. It contains most of the sizes and bits you'll use on an average job. The ratchet spanners are handy and the case is easy enough to lug about should you need to. Lifetime guarantee and well priced as they almost always have them at 50% discount. I backed this set up with a spanner set from Lidl (decent quality for occasional use) and a smaller 1/42 and 1/2" Halfords set and I've never been stuck for normal tasks.
Grison Leather Renovation Cream http://www.theleathercare.co.uk/black_grison.html
This stuff was fantastic. I used it on my old 190E and it brought the 19yr old black leather back up to a great finish. The wear marks, scuffs and scratches were well covered and the cracks were masked to a decent level also.
Not the best pics, but...Before:

And after:

Lidl Screenwash : No link
I think most people know about this one. It's £5.99 for 5L and is rated down to a ludicrous -50degC. I dilute 50:50 and never had any problems with it freezing, even in an MR2 where the washer bottle is situated away from the heat of the engine. Some have suggested the high alcohol content isn't good for old rubber, but I've never had an issue with it.
So, post up your reviews and let people know the good, the bad and the average of the kit that we use
