young drivers insurance - no, not a rant for once!
Discussion
I know there's a lot of young drivers insurance rants on here so im going to balance it out with my positive experience from Admiral earlier today.
I paid £580 end of last year at 20 years old and 4 years no claims (admirals booster plan) on a 2010 1.6 tdci focus. A bargain by young drivers standards.
I'm constantly changing ideas on what car to get next but think I've found one I finally want.
Said car is a 2006 subaru forester 2.5xt; group 18 insurance (is that old one?)
I phoned up admiral asking about the car with lpg as modification (running as a daily so would be ideal). My insurance is due 21st June and they quoted £216 from today. From my man maths that is less than £900 for the year! Again a bargain personally (considering the performance).
I thought why not try my luck and asked about an exhaust and remap on top. £218 from now till June! So less than £1 per month
So there you go a difference to your normal complaints.
Anybody else with similar circumstances?

Admiral have been brilliant for me too. I'm 19 with 2 years no claims, come renewal for my 3rd year they quoted £1072 (TPFT) but I went online and found it for £950(ish) with LV for fully comp. Rung up admiral about it, they managed to get it to £830(ish) fully comp. I also added coilovers to my car so informed them about it and they said it would increase to £850. Cant complain with that at all so I was well impressed!
ETA- It's for me and my boyfriend, would only be about 500 with just me!

I looked up quote for a 2004 Vectra diesel. My dad needs a new car and his isn't worth anything (150k motorway miles) so has offered it to me when i finish uni and he gets a new one. It's spacious, comfy and reliable and averages 54mpg over the year- but its slow, basic and boring.
anywho- i'm 22 with 0 no claims, but no crashes. apparently my kit car doesn't gain my "no claims". Quotes were around £1500 quid on 12k miles for the vectra.
I did a quick multi car quote- if i moved in with my gf, and did a multi car policy with her as main driver on her rover 25, me as main driver on the vectra, but both insured to drive either car, as a co-habiting couple, the cost was around £850!! No, i dont understand it either!!

Feels like all i ever do is answer threads about young peoples insurance now-a-days.
With Admiral i pay £1200 per year for my Jaguar S Type R. Considering its got 400hp i cannot complain one bit, especially when ive heard of 40 year olds paying £500 per year for the same car.
Edited to add - im 20 y/o
Further edited to add - the insurance chose the car, nothing else with as much power was as cheap to insure. An anomaly i guess.

My Impreza is up for renewal next month so I thought I'd check a few prices.
23 years old, 6 year licence, 4 years no claims, 1 non fault accident. £640 with Elephant.
As a giggle I tried the same details with a Ferrari F430, £890. Couldn't believe it!
(Still can't afford the 430 though!)

Admiral have always been good to me too, back when I was 'young' (now 26...) 1.2 Clio started at about £1,100 at 18, and slowly got lower until it was about £400 at 24.
24 then meant buy silly cars time, so multi-car on a 6.0 Monaro, 3.0 Alfa GTV and the Clio with girlfriend on all of them too was £1,100. Hasn't gone down much since, but ho-hum, trying to get the Monaro by itself was £850+, so I'm not going to complain...
