Recommend me medicine
Discussion
I've managed to pick up this nasty cough that's doing the rounds. At lunchtime I nipped to Boots where I purchased their 'Dry Cough' medicine. With the first swig I knew I wouldn't be taking it again, it was vile.
Undeterred, I nipped into the Co-op on the way home and bought a bottle of the only cough medicine available, Covonia's 'Chesty Cough Mixture'. Christ, it's worse than the Boots' one.
Firstly I'm not entirely sure what the difference between a 'dry' cough and a 'chesty' cough is (the woman at the counter in Boots kindly informed me that one is "kind of dry" and the other is "kind of chesty" - well s
t the bed if that wasn't the least helpful explanation ever, sugartits). To top it all, neither seems to be calming the tickly irritation.
Right now I've wasted nearly a tenner on two bottles of rancid piss and quite frankly I think I'd prefer the cough than the 'cure'. Can anyone recommend a cough medicine that works and doesn't taste like a dysentery-afflicted cat has taken an almighty dump in your throat?

They're all much the same taste TBH mate, chesty cough is really the sort of cough you get when you lie down and you can hear you chest wheezing. A dry cough on the other hand is more of a throat tickle type cough more of an annoyance than a feeling that you lungs are *gunging up.
It's the original Covonia for me, not the menthol one now that really does taste like s
t.
- Sorry about all the medical terminolgy.

Went back to Boots this afternoon and spoke to someone who actually knew what they were talking about. Ended up with Boots' Pholcodine linctus B.P which a) works and b) doesn't taste like horse piss.
The downside is that it's not 'non-drowsy' and I nearly took a nap at my desk earlier. Thanks for the suggestions though, much appreciated.
