Well after sorting a longstanding missfire problem the SEAC is left with a missfire/stutter but only when cold.
As soon as the temp gets to 80C everything is fine and she goes like She oughta.(as MikeB can vouch for )
Fairly certain its the coolant temp sensor breaking down. I thought i had a spare that i bought for the 350 years ago. But it doesnt have a plug fitting.
Any ideas what this is?
More importantly can somebody tell me the correct part number/quickest supplier? Cheers in anticipation of finally putting this to bed

Hi D,

Probably rimmer brothers, should be on their site someplace?. I changed the block temperature sensor and it had the plastic plug at the top for the loom to plug into. I believe there is also a place in Cardiff that sells such bits as well.

That looks very much like the temperature sender for your guage and not the ecu transmitter that the multiplug attaches too

I agree. the ECU temp sensor will be 2 pins and have an injector style plug

Cheers guys. Just got the correct one from local 4 X 4 dealer for £7.50
For the record the part No. is EAC3927/L there is an alternative No. ERR2081
Was gonna buy a thermotime switch (EAC1385) while I was at it, but they are £50

Well i now have my doubts if this is the problem. Just tried the new sensor (plug connected but not in the coolant as per one of Wedg1e' threads) doesn't seem to be any better!!
So any ideas what to look at next?? Like i said She runs perfect when up to temp. Should i think about re-instating the cold start injector? Apparently its always been disconnected and doesn't do anything when it is connected!!

The cold start injector only works when cranking - or it should. If it was leaky, it would affect the running, but probably adversely.
It does sound as though the fuel is leaning-off as the engine comes up to temp. You may have an air leak....

dont understand Ian - fuel leaning off infers overfuelling but air leak would make it leaner!
Had a few bevies tonight so will try to get my head around it in the morning - Need your help on this one Wedg1e old boy

Doh! Sorry, I didn't read the question properly.
In that case it could be either too rich or too lean during warm-up, either of which would cause the symptoms. Try adding some extra air (pull a pipe off somewhere)?
My car runs unevenly at idle but smooths out when you rev it, I gave up worrying years ago

Now running like a dream. Didnt change the sensor after all but took the plunge and screwed the pressure regulator adjuster 1/4 turn clockwise and now running smoother than a smooth thing
Cheers all.
Can anybody tell me if i have increased the fuel pressure or decreased it?
If increased will get round to plumbing in a guage to make sure its not too high sometime (before a hose splits hopefully)

Clockwise increases it IIRC (increases preload on diaphragm spring).

Just got back from my holiday in the Algarve so I've missed all the recent goings on.

Glad to hear youv'e got her running correctly again. That preesure relief valve was not touched in all the time I owned her, so it makes me wonder if this is due to the recent fuel pump change you had. Is the new one man enough? although I would expect it to misfire when you give it lots of the loud pedal if this was the case. Just seems a bit odd to me.

I was told she runs too rich at low revs and too lean at high, maybe that pressure regulator should be turned up even higher and give you a few more horses at the top end. I guess the gauge is the way to check.
