Evening all in need of assistance, thought i would post this while trawling through previous threads.

Got home to find the alarm going off, god n=knows how long. Got into the car and also removed fuse #3 which seemed to reduce the volume.

Position now is car on drive, both doors open no power to lower windows to close doors, have trickle charge plugged in via ciggie lighter, however i can still hear siren from drivers rear wheel arch !

question is will trickle charge eventually charge enough to disarm the alarm or will this siren negate any charging ?

also how do i go about lowring windows shutting doors and closing windows so I can leaving it charging overnite ?

any assistance greatly appreciated.

cheers

I think....(trying to remember when I had a flat a battery and it all went a bit )

I let it run down, the capacitor that feeds the siren eventually runs out, then I re-charged the battery. I didn't start recharging it whilst it was still going off as I thought it might just go on and on..

hope it didnt wake you Paddy. Suppose the accumate is not good sitting in the garage not hooked upto the car and mains, DOH!!

on a serious note i have figured out how to shut the doors now wondered if you knew if it was worth me shutting it up with the charger plugged in and let the siren die out ?? or am i charging this backup battery at the same time ??

So this thread seems to be about, where to disconnect the alarm?

Is there no connector to the back of the alarm in the rear wheel arch?

Which fuse controls power to the alarm?

I whipped out fuse # 3 I think (at work now) which was a 30 amp fuse. This cut the noise totally bar that from the siren battery back up.

This siren has died totally now and the car has been plugged into the accumate overnight.

Question is now will the accumate be able to charge the car up if so how long ? and will there be any alarm problems that i should expect and how do i resolve these ?

it was too dark see anything last night especially with the 18" spiders does not appear to be a lot of room round the wheel. would this back up battery be sha gged now ?

Charging the car with the acumate may take a few days if the battery was really low.

Reseting the alarm...check Grahams website for reseting it.

www.aauk.biz/Cerbera/index.htm

May have to reset doors etc- black box ontop of the tank in the boot.

Even though you didn't disconnect the battery, the voltage has fell below a threshold (probably around the 9 volt mark) where the alarm think's it's been disconnected.

The car's external 12 volt input (in your case the car battery) needs to be removed & re fitted. Within 10 seconds of refitting the battery, press your alarm fob, the indicators will flash quickly, 5 times "ish".

Should be done, hopefully.

Good luck

could you define remove & re fitted in my case, would it be just remove the positive terminal (i.e one on view) and re-connect ?

this is of course hoping the accumate has given it enough juice in 24 hrs !!

Hi john, yeh, remove & reconnect your positive terminal.

Have a look at your charger, if it's a 1amp charger, it's going to take 70 hours to charge a 70 Amp Hour (AH) batttery & so on & so forth.

Providing the battery is as dead as a Badger (see road kill thread)

another question, gone and bought myself a heavy duty battery charger to save this messing about.

I presume I need to disconnect the battery ? if so do i need to remove both terminals or can i get away just removing the positive ? and therefore avoid a little bit of grief

do i connect charger as handbook suggests for jump starting i.e. hook up positive to battery and negative to chassis or as charger instructions both terminals ?

cheers

If you charge the battery up whilst in the car, with a 'normal' battery charger thats over 7 amps, you could
f**k the electrics up. F**k is a technical term.

I bought one with the same purpose in mind...until someone told me not to. Its also in one of the cerbera workshop manuals I believe.
