I can't seem to properly. The last guys that did it were the best so far but still on most surfaces at the usual high 60s to 70 odd it still wobbles slightly,it does vary though.I know the alloys are possibly not perfect and this maybe the cause but how many of you are affected.

Mine are 18" sportlines(like GT3)

I don't have any problems. Have you tried having them balanced on the car?

I had the same problem until I found a local tyre centre with a road-force balance machine.

The machine applies some force to the wheel to simulate the tyre deflection while driving. On my car it also suggested removing one of the tyres and rotating it around the rim to give a better balance.

It's been spot on every since, highly recommended.

Try having your wheels checked for any signs of a potential buckle. The offsets on some alloys are huge and there are some pretty mean potholes about after this winter.

If its not too bad its very cheap to fix...

I had a set of BBS LMs that were very difficult to balance. I finally found a fitter who knew what they were about & told me to ask for them to be balanced "static", not "dynamic" which is the default. Any decent balancing machine can be set to do static but it seems few fitters know when they should use static so they always leave it in dynamic.

Never had a problem after that.

Best thing would be to find someone with a Hunter GSP9700 with the road force measurment system as has been mentioned. If the wheels or tyres are no good then it will tell you. It's a fantastic bit of kit but bl**dy expensive. biggrin

Have you ruled out the other bits that might create a speed sensitive wobble - like coffin (control) arm wear as an example - on your suspension?

If that's loose/worn it can cause a wobble at certain speeds as well.

Cheers,
sb

Tyres can also go out of shape is the car is left static in one position for too long. Feels like the a balancing issue when in actual fact it is the tyre shape.

Do you have spacers fitted, as I got a very slight wobble after fitting? The first ones I tried (9mm) were so bad I had to return them.

http://www.balancemycar.co.uk/ is under development but will point you to the nearest GSP9700 when up and running.
