Helmet

After my first taste of a track day ,I think there might be more in the pipeline . What helmet do I need that will pass all the requirements for all tracks .Is it a normal motor cycle one ? All this BS lark is a bit confusing.

Main thing Seeby is it don't hit the roll hoop, my full face on Saturday was a pain, Peters open face helmet didn't touch it! I'd like a new open face but you may have to wear goggles, I kinda like that idea. Id go for a fire proof one, you can use it anywhere then.

Fwiw, I had an open face helmet and sun glasses on my last track day and there were no wind in the eyes issues with the roof and windows down

Actually, no. That was on a relaxed charity day with the RAF, who didn't do noise checks either (well you wouldn't if you were flying Tornados the rest of the time, would you?)
I have just looked on the MSV website and they insist on full face helmets for open top cars. I bit the bullet and bought both, as I prefer open face but need to roof off on hot days.

Got it in one. But on all but the hottest days you could keep the roof on.

For completeness we ought to check every track day organisers website.......
And if last August is anything to go by, you would be ok open face and roof off if it is a nice day at Marham

They always have these on display at TDs and are very popular.

I believe they are the sole agents in England for these.

Seeby - Go to Lidl, they are currently doing an open face helmet for £24.99 (pictured).
Plus a full face version, where the chin bit flips up easy access at £39.99. They come with three year warranty and German TUV approval.

Ha-ha - I thought they looked ok in the shop, although the chin flip up full face version looked like something the Hairy Bikers might wear. Perhaps try putting "Shox Helmet" in search on ebay -they're full face and cheap too.
