Lets cut the crap were all petrol heads here so question is what do owners and potential buyers view the current values and do they see them slipping into the lowly values like E36 M3's and the like OR holding steady and increasing?

If its increasing question has to be asked clearly we are at or near to fabricating parts as most spares have been used up as such are some savy owners buying up wreaked examples for spares?

Well i think my car will be worth at least a few million quid in 12 months, at which time i will stop twiddling spanners for a living and buy a small island, where i will employ a small army of ladies to rub baby oil into my nether regions whilst basking in the sun and eating chunks of blue steak...

Anyway back on topic current and future values? Have they moves or stayed static or is it posturing?

Just as a very rough example I paid £20k for mine in 2006 with 12k miles on it & the current owner paid just over £16k with 30k on it this year, so they aren't depreciating too much, but it would be nice for the owners if they followed the griff 500's trend as they fetch great money still.

I think they will not drop any further - in fact I don't think they have really. I bought my 4.5 a good 6 (or more) years ago for 16k. A sorted 4.5 still costs 16k now, I don't think the prices have changed.

I can't see them going down to m3 levels, TVR's are rare and desirable. M3's are not.

It is true that a very good low mileage fault free Griff 500 will be 20k (or more) but I think Cerbera's will follow at some point.

Mine is up for sale and I'm trying to keep the prices up by advertising it at just over 10k for a '97 4.2 with just over 69 k on the clock biggrin

I think 10k for a cared for 97 4.2 is fair, and to me the prices seem quite robust on the whole. It's hard to be unbiased because we (mostly) love our Cerbs and they are expensive to run but it still an iconic car in my opinion so I can't see them dropping off badly, especially now TVR is done.

Having looked at Tuscan, Cerbera, T350 and Sagaris prices over the past 2 years or so, I think they are getting stronger. You don't see many cheap ones anymore which means the tatty ones have been bought and repaired or scrapped and the really cared for ones are getting good money.

Tis what I'm thinking.

The Cerb in that lovely Purple two tone was my poster car at college and being frank in all the time since /some 20 years since launch on the road I don't think I've seen more than ten give or take.

Rare cars brutal performance in all guises (though I'd have to have a v8 personal pref) swooping stunning looks and even today as fast if not faster than a 911 turbo - but rather than a Porsche911 its a car that many would give a second look due to numbers sound etc.

(Out of interest did the 440R ever get made or just pipe dream before old Vladimir killed the company?

Mark.

Yah, what you want is the most heavily modified and fastest TVR in the Universe etc etc...this will set the president of future values depending on colour and stereo choice, however the underslung anti-roll bar vs the over the top...

Just drive the bloody thing!! smile

The cheapest 4.5 on the market today (PH, eBay, AutoTrader) is £16k, a couple of years ago you could buy a 4.5 for under £10k (admittedly not prime examples), but they don't exist any more.

I paid £16k for my 4.5 a few months ago - it could be described as a fair example (fairly tidy to look and in decent mechanical condition, but could be improved upon with £££).

It's odd really - it's the first car I've paid cash for that's worth more than a few hundred quid. I haven't really noticed any difference in my finances. Usually the direct debits etc start and you realise you've committed to something long term. I just keep seeing a Cerbera outside my house and smiling at it.

It's value trending didn't bother me (I own a pair of Jags - depreciation doesn't bother me as I like to keep cars a while), although I'll admit that it's nice to think that for once I own something desireable. Owning a fashionable car never appealed. I hadn't really thought about the difference between cars that are fashionable and cars that are desireable for classic or performance appeal until the Cerbera.
