What will be worth more in 5 years, a 997.1 C2 or a 996 C4S?

I've read a few comments about the 996 C4S being a future classic and also that you shouldn't buy a base 997 Carrera 2 as it won't hold it's money very compared to the Carrera S (although there doesn't seem to be much evidence of this yet).

At the moment there's not too much difference between them, taking age into consideration, but 997's are usually a bit more expensive.

Any thoughts on future values?

In 5 years it'll be the 996c4s but in 10 it'll be the 997.

I go with 997. If it want for the front lights the c4s would have been perfect looking. Although would still have needed the engine from its big brother!!

I dont know what you have been reading but this will never happen. Not in my lifetime anyway.

I can see the 996 GT3 increasing over time so you should buy that if you want an investment in the 996 range.

Don't buy a car you want to keep based on possible residuals, buy the one you will be happy with for that time.

Ooh, pop quiz! My favourite thing.

I am going to go against my own view and say that it might just be the 996 by a whisker. Only because they seem to have a bit of a cult following for some reason.
but there won't be much in it.

Used, rear wheel manual 911 will always be more desirable than carrera 4, i think. At least in mainland europe. So, i vote 996 carrera coupe with manual transmission.

Are 996 C2 really worth more than a 4S in Europe?

It seems to be so. 996 Carrera Coupe manual combination isn't that common and they are quite sought after, so the price is higher than 4s/cabriolet/automatic-version.

I would be very happy to have a 996 manual Carrera biggrin
